Cathy Kruger
I was born and raised in small cities in central Iowa. As the oldest of five children, I was encouraged to occupy myself. I loved to read, so I was often dropped off at the library for hours at a time. I also loved music and began piano, then violin, lessons in elementary school.
I took German in high school, and, after my family hosted exchange students from Brazil and Mexico, I traveled to Germany as an exchange student following graduation. While in Germany I attended a city 'gymnasium' (German for college preparatory school) and participated in a youth orchestra as well as an adult chamber orchestra.
Upon returning home, I enrolled at Iowa State University where I, after much deliberation, majored in chemical engineering. I met my husband at ISU. After he completed his master's degree, we moved to northern Colorado, although I returned to ISU for a semester to finish my bachelor's degree. Shortly after my graduation, we moved to Washington state where we lived for several years (and our two sons were born) before moving to Colorado Springs. We settled in and added a daughter to the mix.
I've been an active volunteer, both at church and at my kids' school. I mentor elementary students, also, through a program called Kids Hope USA.
