I'm an office administrator at my church and a graduate student in communications. I'm a life-long learner who loves to read, sing, play piano and violin, and solve word and number puzzles of all kinds.
Work experience
Cragmor Christian Reformed Church. Office Administrator
2005 - present
As the office administrator of a small church staff, much (but not all) of my work is behind the scenes. I prepare bulletins and accompanying inserts as well as the PowerPoint presentations for Sunday worship services. I process payroll, enter and assemble financial data, and submit various quarterly and annual filings. I'm the receptionist, greeter, facilities use coordinator, form creator, directory manager, purchaser, bill payer, and on-site troubleshooter.
Colorado Spring Christian Middle School. Teacher and Aide
1996 - 2004
I began as a part-time math aide at CSCMS and soon added study hall monitor and band aide to my duties. I taught Honors English 7 and Pre-Algebra 7/8 as well as computer classes (keyboarding and rudimentary programming) for 6th - 8th graders. I substituted in many of the classrooms and also facilitated the implementation of the Reading Counts! program and classroom book orders for the school. I organized the league Knowledge Bowl meets at CSCS for several years.
I coordinated the standardized testing program, enhancing security and scheduling procedures, and was responsible for receipt and shipment of test materials, answer sheets and results. I created a bank of year-end grammar and writing assessments for the English department and assisted with data entry and accreditation documentation.
German instructor for elementary students
Parent groups hired me to teach extra-curricular language classes; I taught German at elementary schools in Ames, Iowa, and Edmonds, Washington (three years at each school).
